Anti-Racism and Allyship Lecture Series

YWL is hosting a three-part lecture series about anti-racism and effective allyship in the workplace. Join the Board of Directors as we listen and learn.

July 6, 2020 • 5PM┃Racial and Social Justice 101 with Ericka Hart (recorded webinar)

This webinar acts as an educational resource for organizations and individuals seeking to deepen both their professional and personal practices toward centering those who navigate society from its margins. By the end of the workshop, participants will have learned actionable steps on how to unlearn anti-Blackness, cultivate mechanisms of resistance to it and better understand how to identify and analyze structures that perpetuate mass marginalization under global capitalism as an entry point for action.

July 8, 2020 • 5PM┃Working While Black #1: Anti-Black Racism and Labour with the Canadian Labour Congress (recorded webinar)

This webinar  will celebrate the contributions of Black activists and organizers in Canada, strengthen solidarity across movements, and build skills and knowledge for confronting anti-Black racism in workplaces and communities today. Participants will develop tools and strategies that work towards the goal of building workplaces and communities that are inclusive and free from racism and discrimination.

July 10, 2020 • 12PM┃Allyship in the Workplace with Ritu Bhasin (live Q&A)

This webinar - delivered LIVE with Ritu Bhasin, inclusion, authenticity and leadership expert - will share essential behaviors for effective allyship during this time of crisis, including the key pillars of allyship and how allyship is connected to inclusion; understanding concepts of equity with a focus on racism and, in particular, anti-Black racism; key responsibilities and must do behaviors for allies; and practical strategies for applying an allyship lens to team interactions and advocating effectively as an ally.
